Type your Overworld coordinates and get the exact spot to build the matching Nether portal. X and Z are divided by 8 and rounded down; Y stays the same.
Build your Nether portal at
100 / 70 / -13
Overworld X and Z ÷ 8, rounded down. Y stays the same.
When you enter the portal, the game looks for an existing Nether portal within 16 blocks of the target (Java), at any height.
How Overworld to Nether conversion works
One block in the Nether equals 8 blocks in the Overworld, but only sideways. So an Overworld portal at X 800, Z −100 lines up with a Nether portal at X 100, Z −13 (because −100 ÷ 8 = −12.5, rounded down to −13). Height does not scale, so Y is copied as it is.
Why rounding down matters
The game always rounds toward negative infinity. That is why −1 becomes −1 (not 0) and −100 becomes −13 (not −12). Many calculators round to the nearest number, which can put your Nether portal one block off on negative coordinates.

Overworld to Nether Calculator FAQ
How do I convert Overworld coordinates to the Nether?
Divide X and Z by 8 and round down. Keep Y the same. For example, 1,600 / 70 / 400 becomes 200 / 70 / 50.
Do I divide Y by 8 too?
No. Only X and Z scale. Y stays the same, but the Nether only goes up to the bedrock roof at Y 127, so keep Nether portals at Y 127 or lower.
Why does my portal go to the wrong place?
Another portal is closer to the target than yours, or yours is outside the search area. Use the nether portal linking calculator to check every portal at once.
