Enter your Nether coordinates to find where the portal comes out in the Overworld. X and Z are multiplied by 8; Y stays the same.
Build your Nether portal at
100 / 70 / -13
Overworld X and Z ÷ 8, rounded down. Y stays the same.
When you enter the portal, the game looks for an existing Nether portal within 16 blocks of the target (Java), at any height.
How Nether to Overworld conversion works
Multiply X and Z by 8. A Nether portal at X 100, Z −13 leads to X 800, Z −104 in the Overworld. Because one Nether block covers 8 Overworld blocks, a single Nether position can serve any Overworld spot within that 8 × 8 area.
Building the return portal
The Overworld search area is 128 blocks in every direction, so you have plenty of room. Build the return portal as close to the target as you can, and keep other portals farther away than this one.
How to use the nether to overworld calculator
- Stand in your Nether portal and read X, Y and Z.
- Type them in the Nether box, or paste the F3 line.
- Travel back and build the Overworld portal at the result.
Nether to Overworld Calculator FAQ
How do I convert Nether coordinates to the Overworld?
Multiply X and Z by 8. Keep Y the same. Nether 50 / 64 / −20 becomes Overworld 400 / 64 / −160.
Why does one Nether portal lead to different Overworld places?
Each Nether block covers 8 Overworld blocks, and the game searches 128 blocks around the target. If two Overworld portals are both in range, the closer one wins.
